Got a room in your house that’s always warmer than the others in summer, and always colder than the rest in the winter?

Yeah, so do I.

You need this register vent booster. I just ordered mine, and can’t wait to install it.

The idea is so simple, I can’t believe I haven’t seen it somewhere else. Basically, it creates more air flow from your normal air ducts, so that those rooms get more cold or hot air, as needed, than they would normally. And the price tag is a lot less than having an HVAC company come out and “balance” your ducts in your attic or under your house.

They cost $70 normally, but happen to be on sale right now for $60. Pick on up at ATrendyHome.com.

The Panasonic Pro AG-HVX200A is the latest Panasonic Camcorder to hit the market, and it’s gotta be the best HD Camcorder they’ve ever released. It’s Panasonic’s first HD video product to use P2, the cutting-edge memory recording device that has the potential to revolutionize the entire production paradigm.

A huge feature of this camcorder, is the use of the P2 Card. According to Panasonic: “Basically, four SD memory cards are packaged together to create a single P2 card. When striped as a RAID 0 array, this gives the P2 four times the transfer speed and four times the capacity of a single SD memory card.” Additionally, the P2 card plugs directly into a Type II PC Card slot on your laptop (which isn’t available on my MacBook Pro anymore).

This camera is truly a Pro camera, but it’s still relatively affordable, and man does it kick ass. Go read all about it on Amazon, then just buy it.

It has a built in count down timer that gives you a silent vibrate to let you know when you have five minutes left and another one when your selected time is up (never go over your allotted time again). The grip feels great and the USB receiver slides into the top of the device, making it extremely compact. You no longer have to stand at a podium and be tethered to your laptop clicking the spacebar for the next slide. The Logitech Presenter will turn the power and attention of your presentation back to where it matters most - you. The Logitech Presenter is $89 and is the only piece of hardware on this list for a reason.

I’m an avid amateur photographer. And I’m a Canon guy. So if you’re a Nikon person, you can ignore this post, but if you’re looking for the best value in Prosumer Digital SLR’s, look no further than the new Canon EOS 50D:

Features include:

15.1 MP sensor

HDMI output (Mini) for viewing on HDTVs

ISO speed up to 12,800 (this is huge)

a refined 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots)

new DIGIC 4 Image Processor

uses Compact Flash Type I or II memory cards

shoot up to 6.3 fps, in bursts of up to 90 JPEGs or 16 RAW files

Peripheral Illumination Correction

Updated EOS Integrated Cleaning System

It takes movies. Yes, movies from an SLR.

I’m just salivating over this camera. Seriously.

If you’re new to DLSRs, you should only consider two cameras from Canon right now: The Rebel, and this 50D. Either go cheap, or go big. The 50D is going big… and while at $1300 - $1,600, it may feel a lot more expensive, you’ll still be using the 50D in 5 or 10 years, and you’ll outgrow your old Rebel will grow old in a year old two.

And for you true newbies to DLSRs, the new Creative Auto mode will probably help you learn how to use a SLR in manual mode, or at least get a lot of the power out of the SLR that you normally wouldn’t get, if you never learn how to shoot in manual mode, and is something I’m looking foward to playing with.

Pick up a Canon EOS 50D (Body Only) or the Canon EOS 50D kit with a 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens. You won’t go wrong with either.

If you have the extra cash, pick up a Battery Grip and some extra batteries too. You will want them at some point.

As Mac users, the only real news we’ve heard in recent months about Adobe’s newest flagship software is how Photoshop CS4 won’t be 64-bit like it is on Windows.

Nonetheless, we can’t resist a new version of Adobe Anything, possibly because they always come up with new features you wonder how you made due without, and almost definitely because bugs you previously encountered have a nasty tendency of never getting fixed until the next, paid-for upgrade emerges.

No matter, Adobe Creative Suite 4 is where the party will be when it ships in November, and with essentially no real competition around, we suggest you get your ticket early. Fortunately, Adobe continues to expanded the number of suites and upgrade paths available, meaning if you own any Adobe application from the last few years you can probably upgrade for a lot less coin.

Scope these prices out at Amazon and get your pre-orders in:

A knife is one of the most practical tools you can carry on you at all times, but you seldom need anything as extreme as Leatherman’s Skeletool CX when you’re in the office or just around the house.

That’s why we like Gerber’s Trendy Folding Clip Knife with Pear Wood Onlay.

This pint-size fine edge blade measures just 2.5-inches long when closed and is barely noticeable in your pocket. A built-in clip can secure some loose bills, or make sure that the knife stays clipped to your pocket and doesn’t fall out.

Pick one up from Amazon for around $23, it normally sells for closer to $30.

I’m a pen freak. A pen connoisseur. Some might call me a pen whore.

I love a good fountain pen, but I hate paying a lot of money for one. I also love small pens that can easily fit in your pocket.

My favorite fountain pen of the moment is the Ohto Tasche Fountain Pen. The design allows you to easily carry it in your pocket when it’s closed, but it functions as a full-sized pen when it’s open. The nib is also pretty fine lined, making it perfect for my moleskins.

Get it from Jetpens in blue, black, pink, or my favorite: silver for $15 a pen. Or order a combo pack of all four for $60. And don’t forget to pick up a few boxes of ink (black or blue)… you’ll love this pen.

The AW1 is literally a plug and play solution: connect each USB dongle to a USB port (just to draw power), plug your audio source into one and your speakers into the other, and you’re done.

Audio Engine claims the AW1 is good for up to 100-feet without any dropouts or interference and that there’s no reduction in audio quality.

It’s also the perfect companion for the company’s excellent A5 speakers we wrote about yesterday, which conveniently feature a built-in USB port on top.

If you want some of the finest sound out of your music player for the money, check out the Audio Engine A5N bookshelf speakers.

Born of studio monitor heritage, the A5N’s represent the “premium” edition of the A5, an already outrageous speaker set. (The extra $100 goes towards the hot carbonized solid bamboo enclosure.)

The A5’s sport excellent tweeters and woofers that are perfectly balanced so your music sounds rich and full, not boomy or tinny. The kevlar woofer and silk dome tweeters don’t just look great on the grill-less A5’s, they’re premium parts.

The A5’s also feature a USB connector on top so you can plug your choice of iPod dock in. For those interested in beaming their tunes, the A5 also has a built-in power outlet that just happens to be perfect for accommodating an AirPort Express.

All in all, a great value at $349 in black or white, and $449 in the bamboo. Shipping’s free, too.

Sanyo recently announced a new full-HD home projector that’s undoubtedly the one we’d pick up if we were in the market for one. Here’s what makes the PLV-Z700 so great:

1080p support
displays up to 100-inch screen at either 3m or 6.1m away
electronic lens-protecting shutter
virtually silent (21dB) operation
wide-area lens shifting (up to +/- 100% vertical, +/- 50% horizontal)
Inputs: HDMI(x2), Component(x2), S-Video, Composite, RGB
1,200 ANSI lumens

In other words, it’s got everything you’d really want and nothing that you don’t. That includes its price tag, which might seem steep at $1,995 from B&H but is actually very reasonable full-HD projector.
